There are a host of new features and game play changes to make KFC SuperCoach more fun and flexible in 2023.

EXTRA BYE, EXTRA TRADE: The AFL 2023 season includes an extra round, with every club playing 23 home-and-away matches over 24 rounds, and one more bye round than we have been used to. To help us deal with the new challenges, every KFC SuperCoach will have 36 trades for the season – one more than last year. KFC SuperCoach will feature best 18 scoring for all four bye rounds – round 12 (four teams on the bye), round 13 (two teams), round 14 (six teams) and round 15 (six teams) – with only the top 18 scoring players counting towards your total. Teams will also have access to up to three trades (or four with a Trade Boost) for each of the four bye rounds.

TRADE BOOSTS: We listened to you, and the Trade Boosts are back for 2023 after making a very popular debut last year. Up to five rounds during the season, you can activate a Trade Boost for a third trade (or fourth during the bye rounds) to use for that round. A Trade Boost can be activated for any round and will come out of your total of 36 for the season.

LEAGUES: Default public and private 18-team head-to-head leagues will be expanded to 20 teams and start one round earlier in 2023, from round 2, while 10-team leagues will start one round later, now from round 3. You can continue to create custom leagues with 6-20 teams, set your own starting round, finals format and more. All finals series will take place in rounds 21-24.

SITE MAKEOVER: All the great features you love about KFC SuperCoach are now easier to find after a total website redesign. No more opening of menu systems or digging through layers of navigation to get between screens, games and sports. Now it is all neatly laid out and available across the top of the screen on desktop, and bottom of the screen on app, never requiring more than a click to get around sections within each game. The home dashboard has also been updated to display the info you need most in pre-season or during a live round.

SUPERCOACH PLUS: There are great new tools available to SuperCoach Plus subscribers this year including coaches choice options that allow you to see how many of the top 1 per cent, 5 per cent and 10 per cent of teams in the overall rankings own every player. The functionality of the trade assist feature has also been expanded to help you make the right call every week – nominate a player you want to trade in or out and SuperCoach Plus will find the best trade for that player. Live scores – available only to SuperCoach Plus subscribers – can now be found across the site.

SUPERCOACH DRAFT: Keeper leagues will now roll over automatically each season. There is no longer a need to re-activate a keeper league and re-invite everyone to re-join – your league just keeps going. There will also be more customisation with league commissioners able to edit the draft order for any round of picks, as well as the player retention settings. You will also be able to control scoring over the bye rounds, filter the waiver wire in more ways, pause a live draft and much more.

At the end of the AFL home-and-away season the top SuperCoach in the country takes home $50,000 in cash. Second place receives $5000 and those placed third to 10th win $1000 each.

There is also a $1000 weekly prize for the best score each round – doubled to $2000 if you’re a SuperCoach Plus subscriber.

And that’s not all. KFC delivers delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken every week for the top 11 scorers, special offers for everyone that opts into KFC SuperCoach and there’s more epic merch, experiences, and chicken up for grabs throughout the season.

HOW PLAYERS SCORE POINTS

Players score KFC SuperCoach points from acts in real AFL games using a formula devised by Champion Data to reward actions that have the biggest impact on matches – there is more to SuperCoach than adding up kicks, marks and handballs.

This game rewards players who win a crucial one-on-one contest and hit a target when the game is on the line.

The ability to win the ball (contested possessions), use it well (disposal efficiency), impact the scoreboard (goals and score assists), win the footy back off the opposition (intercept possessions) and tackles all score well.

There are also negative acts that cost players KFC SuperCoach points such as turnovers and giving away free kicks and 50m penalties.
