Hawthorn has been dealt a blow, confirming that Luke Breust is set to miss a month of footy.

The classy small forward sustained a small fracture to his jaw in Sunday’s narrow win over North Melbourne and will now undergo surgery.

"Luke got a knock to the jaw on the weekend whilst laying a tackle," Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd told hawthornfc.com.au.

"At the time he was a little bit sore but he managed to play out the game.

"He woke up on Monday morning though and he was quite sore through there so we got the area scanned.

"What that's shown is a small fracture through his jaw so he will have surgery on that in the next 24 hours and he will miss a few weeks of football."

This season, the two-time All-Australian has kicked six goals in four games for the Hawks who sit fourth on the ladder with a 3-1 record ahead of Sunday's clash with GWS at Giants Stadium.
