Lance Franklin has officially put contract talks on hold.

The AFL superstar’s future has been a topic of increasing interest as he nears the end of a nine-year, $10 million contract with the Sydney Swans, with a report this week the eight-time All-Australian was considering moving to a third AFL club in the Brisbane Lions.

In a statement released on Saturday morning, Franklin announced his playing future remained in limbo.

“At this stage conversations have been paused around my contract so I can put all my focus on playing footy,” he said.

“No further comment will be made until the season is done and I have decided about my future.

“I am still undecided and need time after the season to make a family decision about whether I continue to play next year.”
