Adelaide appears all but certain to collect the wooden spoon after another loss, as Matthew Nicks fails to get on the board in his inaugural year coaching the side.

The new coach even apologised to supporters after the contest, suggesting the Crows went backwards following the poor effort.

“We took a big step backwards as a group… I’m sorry to our supporters for the performance. It was nowhere near the level. We’re playing AFL football,” he told reporters post-game.

“A lot of players were off today. A lot of players struggled to get themselves into the game.”

Speaking on AFL Nation during the contest, former Saint and Roo Nick Dal Santo suggested the Crows weren’t up to AFL standard.

“This is not AFL level from the Crows. their inability to stop the opposition is unbelievable.”

Adelaide will aim to get on the winners board when they take on Melbourne on Wednesday night.
