West Coast small forward Jamaine Jones will front court on Friday after being charged with a drink driving offence.

The Eagles released a statement on Thursday night, confirming Jones informed the club immediately at the time of the offence.

It’s alleged Jones, 23, had a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08.

“The club is bitterly disappointed with Jones’ actions and will review the incident after the hearing with the likelihood of a separate sanction,” an Eagles club statement read.

“There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and Jones is extremely remorseful for this serious error of judgement.”

After playing seven games in three seasons on Geelong’s rookie list, Jones was picked up by West Coast via the pre-season supplemental selection period ahead of the 2020 season.

The left-footer managed two games in 2020 before playing 15 this year.
