Adelaide Crows coach Matthew Nicks has apologised to supporters following the club's 69-point loss to North Melbourne.

Nicks is still yet to register a win as a head coach and said the club made no progress towards improvement at Metricon Stadium today.

“We took a big step backwards today as a group unfortunately," he told reporters post-match.

“I’m sorry to the supporters for our performance we brought, it wasn’t at the level. It was nowhere near the level.

“We were all really disappointed with what we put out there."

The 45-year old said the group didn't play as a team, and the entire club will be feeling the hurt as a result.

“We had far too many individuals today that didn’t perform their role at times," he said.

“It was (a poor performance) across the board.

“For the next couple of days there’ll be some sore boys, physically and mentally as well as staff and coaches."
