Paul George for the win!

George nailed an epic game-winning three-pointer in the dying seconds to see the LA Clippers come from 22 points down to edge the Golden State Warriors 113-112 at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday (all times AEDT).

The superstar forward scored 19 points in the second half – 11 in the fourth quarter alone – with no bucket bigger than his last shot, which gave LA its first lead of the entire game.

After a Steph Curry miss at the other end and the Clippers down 112-110, George ran the floor and put some moves on Klay Thompson at the perimeter, then buried the step back triple with Thomson’s hand in his face with 8.9 seconds remaining.

“Oh my goodness! Hot damn! Paul George puts the Clippers out in front by one!,” Clippers commentator Brian Sieman exclaimed on Bally Sports.

The Warriors had one last chance to win the game, with Curry kicking out to Draymond Green for an open three in the corner, but his shot fell short as the buzzer sounded to seal the win for the home side.

Golden State dominated from the onset, going up by double figures by the end of the first quarter and leading by as much 70-48 in the third term before LA came charging back under the lead of George, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.

George finished with 25 points, six rebounds, six assists and four threes, while Leonard (20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists) and Harden (21 points, five boards, nine dimes) were also instrumental.

It saw the Clippers improve to 9-10 overall and continue their promising recent form, while extracting revenge on the Warriors after Steve Kerr’s side won the battle between these teams at Chase Centre on Friday.

Tyron Lue’s team now has four days off before it plays reigning champion Denver next Thursday.

Curry’s 22 points led the Warriors to go with 11 assists, while Draymond Green and Moses Moody added 21 points apiece. Golden State fell to 9-11 on the season.
