The AFL’s pre-season competition is back tonight and gets underway tonight with Carlton taking on St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

It will be only the second footy game with a crowd at Marvel Stadium since 2019 as the hype builds for 2021.

The Blues and Saints are two interesting teams, with both making trade period additions and both expected to be on the rise this year.

Garry Lyon has named the five players from this game that he is most excited to see.

“Zac Williams and Adam Saad are a given. You want to see how they go,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“Max King I want to see, he draws your eye, has he got his marking back together?

“Paddy Dow, the raps on him after one practice match suggest he’s turned it around and I want to see that for my own eyeballs.

“The other one I’m interested in is James Frawley. He interests me greatly.

“I wasn’t surprised when (Hawthorn) moved him on, but he just might end up being one of those fantastic little pickups.

“They won a final last year, if they want to go deeper than that, having James Frawley, if he can step up, he’s not a creative user (of the ball), but he’s so experienced and he looks happy and fit and ready to go.”

The teams for the game were named overnight, with St Kilda set to welcome Frawley, Brad Crouch, Jack Higgins, Shaun McKernan, Paul Hunter, Mason Wood and Tom Highmore.

Carlton brings in Zac Williams, Adam Saad and Lachie Fogarty, as well as train-on players Oscar McDonald and Callum Moore.

The Blues’ forward line will be without Mitch McGovern, Levi Casboult and Eddie Betts, though Harry McKay has overcome a rolled ankle to play.
