The Western Bulldogs are back in the top eight courtesy of a gritty 27-point win over GWS on Saturday evening, handing the Giants their third consecutive loss.

Despite leading at quarter time, Adam Kingsley’s Giants could only muster three more goals in slippery conditions at Engie Stadium. A disastrously inaccurate Bulldogs performance kept GWS in the game longer than the home side should have been, with Luke Beveridge’s men booting a staggering 8.22 (70) to 6.7 (43) in the wind.

It’s the Dogs’ second consecutive win, just the second time in 2024 they’ve managed such a feat, and leaves them knocking on the door of the top eight ahead of games against difficult opponents in Sydney and Collingwood in the coming fortnight.

Meanwhile, after heading into the Sydney derby as premiership favourites earlier this month, the men in orange have fallen off a cliff and recorded losses to the tune of 29, 20 and now 27 points in the past three rounds.

Adam Treloar and Ed Richards were among the best Bulldogs on the field, racking up 35 and 27 possessions respectively, while former Demon James Harmes broke the game up in the second half with two goals and an equal game-high nine score involvements.

Taylor Duryea picked up 12 possessions and six intercepts in his 200th game.

On the flip side, Tom Green was the only Giants midfielder to win more than five clearances while having 22+ disposals.

It doesn’t get any easier for Kingsley and his men in the coming months, with games against Geelong, Sydney and Port Adelaide ahead in the next four rounds.

But after the pressure threatened Beveridge’s job just weeks ago, the Bulldogs well and truly have their mojo back.
