It’s been revealed a fight broke out inside an exclusive MCC dining room over a lack of “respect” before an ANZAC Round match.

It was first reported on the 3AW rumour file that a teenager refusing to stand for the national anthem sparked the incident, ahead of Hawthorn’s clash with Sydney on Sunday.

A nearby fan told the teen to “show some respect”, with the teen’s father telling him to “pipe down” in response.

The exchange then escalated to the point that a fight broke out, with two men receiving injuries but no children hurt.

“Police are investigating an assault that occurred at a football match in Richmond on April 28,” Victoria Police said.

“It is believed a group of men were involved in a physical altercation.

“Two of the men sustained minor injuries.

“All parties involved were spoken to by police.

“An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.”
