Sydney star Isaac Heeney is facing another extended period on the sidelines after suffering a broken hand during Round 4’s clash against Essendon.

Heeney was forced off the ground during the second quarter, heading into the rooms and then being seen at halftime with ice on his right hand.

The Swans later confirmed Heeney had broken his hand, which is likely to cost him around a month of footy.

He was subbed out of the game and replaced by James Bell.

The 24-year-old had his 2020 season ruined by a serious ankle injury, including a dislocation and ruptured medial ligament and tendon, suffered in Round 6 against Richmond.

It took until midway through the pre-season for Heeney to fully recover and get back into training, but he started the 2021 season extremely well as his Swans jumped out to a 3-0 record.

Heeney has played 112 matches since his debut in the 2015 season.
