If you could only watch one game across Round 6, which would it be?

That was the question that Garry Lyon posed to his co-host Tim Watson on SEN Breakfast with the upcoming weekend hosting eight intriguing games across four days.

While fascinating matches are on the billing including Saints v Dogs, Crows v Dons, Blues v Giants, Lions v Cats, Swans v Suns and the Western Derby, Lyon and Watson picked two other fixtures that they’re most excited about.

Watson’s pick was the battle between two top-four sides from 2023 – Collingwood and Port Adelaide – at the MCG.

Lyon’s pick was instead the matchup between the two remaining winless sides in the competition, North Melbourne and Hawthorn, as one side looks to go 1-5 at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The duo discussed why they picked those games as their one to watch above all others.

Lyon: “If you could only watch one game this weekend, you can only pick one, no others … which is it? Every other game is a blackout.”

Watson: “I’m going to go for the game that I think we learn the most from about what might happen at the pointy end of the season.

“I think it’s Collingwood v Port Adelaide at the MCG. There’ll be a massive crowd there, fans love the 1:45pm start at the ‘G.

“I think that is the game where we’ll learn if Collingwood has got it or not and how good are Port on the road. Can they do it (against a good side at the MCG)?”

Lyon: “If I had to apply my own, very good question to myself … you might laugh at this.

“I think I'd wait until Sunday at 4 o’clock for the game of the round, North versus the Hawks.

“Because they both haven’t won, the coaches don’t like each other and the Hawks have had a week … if you reckon the blowtorch is on the Western Bulldogs, well the Hawks have been absolutely woeful.

“North Melbourne got smashed by Geelong, you'd think that'd be a pretty desperate sort of encounter.

“I'm not sure it's a strong case for the most beautiful game you'll ever see. But in terms of how badly teams want to win (it’s huge).”

Watson: “There'll be some desperation around that.”

Collingwood v Port Adelaide at the MCG is set for 1:45pm (AEST) on Saturday. North Melbourne v Hawthorn is set for 4:05pm (AEST) on Sunday at Marvel Stadium.
