It’s a two or three-week hamstring injury for Richmond midfielder Jacob Hopper, the Tigers believe.

Hopper was playing his first game since Round 2 on Anzac Day eve after an injury layoff due to a knee arthroscope but was substituted out of the clash against Melbourne in the third quarter.

In strange scenes, the 27-year-old grabbed at his hamstring but remained on the ground before coming from the field in the following minutes, kicking a drink bottle in frustration and heading down the rooms.

Richmond has now confirmed a “mild hamstring strain” for Hopper.

Since joining the Tigers at the end of 2022, Hopper has only played 19 games in an injury-interrupted tenure.

He was among Richmond’s best at the time of exiting the field and collected 23 disposals in less than 50 per cent game time.

Adem Yze’s Tigers play Fremantle, the Western Bulldogs and Brisbane in the coming three weeks.

Hopper’s setback adds to an already disastrous injury list, with Richmond missing Tom Lynch (hamstring), Dion Prestia (hamstring), Josh Gibcus (ACL), Tim Taranto (wrist), Noah Balta (knee) and more best 22 players.
