Former Melbourne coach Paul Roos has given his verdict on tonight’s clash.

Roos believes for Carlton to win, the Blues forwards must nullify the impact of Jake Lever, who is one of the leading intercept defenders in the competition.

“If I’m Carlton, the main thing I’m trying to do is sort out Jake Lever,” he told the ABC’s AFL Daily podcast.

” You talk about (Christian) Petracca, (Clayton) Oliver and the midfield, but the most important two players are Steven May and Jake Lever.

“If you can stop Jake Lever from intercept marking and make him play on someone (that’s a major key).

“If I’m Michael Voss, I think you can compete in  most areas of the ground (but) you have to respect Jake Lever.

“You have to take Jake Lever’s intercept marking away to give yourself a chance tonight.”
