An under-the-radar Giants cog is about to receive some huge offers, thanks to him holding the most valuable status in the game.

Plus momentum is building for Damien Hardwick to poach one of his former players – and the Tigers could cash in because of it.

TIME TO PAY THE PERRYMAN

Giants defender Harry Perryman has already received a $3 million contract offer to secure his AFL future – and he might have to give up a million if he wants to stay in orange.

The 25-year-old, who joined GWS with pick 14 back in 2016, holds “the most lucrative three letters in football” according to the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph.

“UFA. Unrestricted free agent,” he explained on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle.

“I can tell you tonight there are clubs out there who’ll be offering $800,000 for him. So why is it? Because he’s a free agent, but also because he’s a general defender who kicks the ball really well, he locks down.

“Again, I’ll say it, he’s an unrestricted free agent. He was third in their best and fairest in 2020, he has not finished in the top 10 in the best and fairest in any other year.

“GWS are aware of what’s going on, they’ve offered him five years at about $650,000. He’s in the leadership group, his partner plays for the Giants Netball team, she’s an Australian Diamonds netballer.

“It’s obscene money … he wants to stay, (but) he’s probably going to have to give up a million bucks.”

Perryman had interest from Port Adelaide back in 2020 and the South Australian club again has interest in the versatile Riverina product.

He has played 115 AFL games but only once, in 2023 when he featured 22 times, has he played more than 19 in a season.

DIMMA READIES FOR FIRST TIGER POACHING

Gold Coast’s interest in Richmond star Daniel Rioli is real, according to the Herald Sun’s Jay Clark, and the Tigers could land a healthy sum in return.

The 27-year-old is contracted until the end of 2027 and there were conflicting reports over whether he spoke with the Suns and his former coach Damien Hardwick during a recent trip to southeast Queensland.

But Clark told Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle “where there’s smoke, there’s a little bit of fire”.

“And I think the Gold Coast Suns are just eyeing Daniel Rioli at the halfway point of the season, and will be very interested in his services,” Clark said.

The Suns would need to give something up to land Rioli, given he is contracted, but they have a healthy suite of 2024 draft selections including two first-rounders – their own, and the Western Bulldogs’ pick.

The Bulldogs’ first was floated as a fair price for Rioli given it is likely to fall just inside or outside the top 10 picks.

“If you were Richmond, and this is a fascinating situation … there could be, not an exodus, but a torrent of players coming out of that club,” Clark explained.

“Liam Baker, Daniel Rioli, what’s Dustin Martin gonna do? I think it’s a really interesting situation but is this a chance for Adem Yze and the Richmond list management crew, who haven’t had a whole lot of high picks over the journey, bundle up some of these players and it really is a new dawn for the Richmond football club?

“But it just flies in the face of what they did with (Jacob) Hopper and (Tim) Taranto.”
